Description
Orcio vase Donne e Architettura. Blue and white decoration. Arte di Gio Ponti Collection.
Eight female figures, each lying on a soft cloud, stand out in the hand-painted decoration in shades of blue and white. The names of each woman are read on the neck of the vase, and in the background are glimpses of complex antiquarian-inspired architecture from which buildings from different eras and cultures, from the Pyramids to the Colosseum, can be recognized.
Made with the technique of brush painting on a majolica base, master Gio Ponti's work is proposed as a journey through millennia of history, embracing Greek, Roman and ancient Egyptian traditions, finally reaching the more modern Renaissance.
Each vase in the series, numbered and initialed with the painter's initials, thus becomes a unique work of art, a testament to commitment and craftsmanship.
The high level of expertise required to create this masterpiece, combined with the complexity and time required for its execution, makes the work particularly valuable and produced exclusively on commission.
Through the reissue of the Donne Architettura Grande decoration, the Manifattura celebrates Ginori 1735's savoir faire and the skill of its masters by including this creation in the exclusive Arte di Gio Ponti collection, which tells the story of tradition and craftsmanship that have made the Florentine Maison world-renowned.
