Description
Red porcelain plate "La Venatoria - Trasporto Del Daino". Arte di Gio Ponti Collection.
The motif, which stands out against a red background, shows the final hunting scene in which Amazons and their pack of dogs proudly carry their newly captured prey. The decoration was devised by Gio Ponti to be developed specifically on majolica, and only later did he himself arrange for it to also be executed on agate-tipped scratched gold porcelain. Because of its narrative theme, consisting of scenes of deer hunting conducted by Amazons with their pack of dogs, this series took on the name Venatoria, in a story that is told scene by scene in the series of authentic collectible plates. Arte di Gio Ponti pays tribute to the savoir-faire of excellence of Ginori 1735 and to the renowned architect who helped define the history and unmistakable style of the Florentine Maison.
