The motif, which stands out against a red background, shows the final hunting scene in which Amazons and their pack of dogs proudly carry their newly captured prey. The decoration was devised by Gio Ponti to be developed specifically on majolica, and only later did he himself arrange for it to also be executed on agate-tipped scratched gold porcelain. Because of its narrative theme, consisting of scenes of deer hunting conducted by Amazons with their pack of dogs, this series took on the name Venatoria, in a story that is told scene by scene in the series of authentic collectible plates.
