Description
Black porcelain plate "Passeggiata Archeologica". Arte di Gio Ponti Collection.
In this decoration, architect Gio Ponti reinterprets the Manifattura's classicist inspiration, evoking the 18th-century taste of Grand Tour travelers and referring to the route, inaugurated in 1918, at the excavations in Rome and referred to as "La Passeggiata Archeologica".
The decoration shows figures that find their spatial dimension thanks to the perspective given by the tiled floor on which they move.
In this case the decoration, also available on a biando background, is reproposed in the black background variant still made with the decal technique.
The gold threading is done by hand following the firing process.
Arte di Gio Ponti is a collection of authentic objets d'art with which the story of tradition and craftsmanship of the Florentine Maison is told, through the most sophisticated creations of the well-known architect, Artistic Director of the Manifattura from 1923 to 1933, who helped make Ginori 1735 known worldwide.
