Description
Le Mie Donne bowl. Domitilla decoration. Arte di Gio Ponti Collection.
"Le Mie Donne" represent the first decorations designed by Gio Ponti that synthesize the classicism of Art Deco through a poetic and sophisticated design declined in three variants each featuring a female figure.
Domitilla portrays a woman suspended in the void by ropes, personalized by a shell and whose elongated limbs describe balanced geometries.
The sketches were assembled by Gio Ponti himself, who had conceived each of the three maidens in the center and suspended on monuments evoking the ancient or Renaissance world. In doing so, the architect managed to create a pleasing balance between the strict classicism of the suspensions and the darting Deco of the female figures, each having a name.
True to the Pontian representation, the decoration is entirely hand-painted on majolica.
Arte di Gio Ponti Collection is a precious and emblematic collection that pays tribute to the renowned architect and savoir faire excellence of Ginori 1735 through art objects that tell the story of the Florentine Maison.
